Hi! My name is Abigail Phillips. I have been an avid competitive swimmer throughout my life, along with here at Hollins University. I enjoy playing my flute in our fall and spring showcases as well. I love plants, reading, writing, crochet, and all things historical! Currently, I am a senior majoring in history and minoring in secondary education with an anticipated Bachelor’s degree in mid-May. I will also gain my licensure in history for grades six through twelve in social studies. I am excited to fulfill my childhood dream of becoming a teacher to promote an inspirational and healthy learning environment.
For teaching, I want to encourage my students to be the best they can be with the challenge of daily growth and learning. I want to foster an enthusiastic, positive, and respectful environment for pupils to always feel safe. I hope to prepare students to be able to use their learned information in the real world, making it applicable outside the classroom, and never just teaching to the test. I have a strong passion for history that I know I will transfer to my students.
