A teacher will be a leader and role model for students, along with being responsible for their learning while strengthening communication skills amongst other students, parents, families, and professionals to achieve student success and professional growth. This standard is important as it allows teachers to make connections with those around them, from students to co-workers. Communicating and leading effectively assists with understanding one another and growing professionally to become a better teacher. The use of an introductory letter, course feedback forms, and a Get to Know Me Quizlet creates a supportive, friendly, and communicative learning environment for all involved in education.
Before the school year starts, I will first send out a letter of introduction on the student’s course and myself. They can be mailed as letters or emailed to students and families. These will be a great and simple way to achieve early communication and support from all involved in the beginning.
There will be Feedback Nights every three months for parents, family, community members, and students. Meetings can also be scheduled as needed. This will allow everyone involved in public schools to complete a course feedback form on my class or the school in general. I will provide everyone with this form to fill out and all input will be valued. In doing so, I can be a better leader as a school employee and implement effective communication in all areas.
Additionally, students will create a “Get to Know Me” Quizlet. They will share it will their classmates to help make friends and be aware of their classmates likes and dislikes. They must include five fun facts, current show or book they enjoy, favorite class, and more! One student loved to share what books she was reading by her favorite author, Lauren Roberts.
